Rafter 46 Bonds in Harmony is Accepting New Clients
Shelley became a counsellor after many years of seeing how often people carry difficult things on their own — unsure who they can talk to, worried about being a burden, or feeling like others won’t understand what they are going through. Along with her formal clinical experience, she has spent years in roles that involved one-to-one support, group facilitation, program coordination, and helping people work through practical and personal challenges in real-life settings. Her work has strengthened the listening, communication, problem-solving, and relational skills she continues to bring into her counselling work.
Her approach to counselling is thoughtful, realistic, and down-to-earth. What matters most is taking the time to look at what’s been happening, understanding the experiences shaping it, and finding natural, realistic ways to move forward. As a neurodivergent person herself, she is empathetic to the struggle of being overwhelmed with a desire to just be heard.
Shelley values curiosity, patience, and genuine respect for each person’s story. She is about providing a place where people can think things through, speak about things they can't say anywhere else, notice what is or isn't working, and begin responding to challenges in new ways.
Shelley spends much of her time outdoors with her horses and dogs. She knows firsthand how much animals can bring calm, perspective, and connection to people.
In her personal time, she enjoys working with her critters, spending time in nature, gardening, discovering wild plants and herbs, and creating things by hand.

For Shelley, people are more than the problems they are facing.
She comes to clients in a personable and genuine way, to make sessions feel like a real conversation between two people rather than stiff or overly clinical. Sometimes that means listening quietly and other times it involves thoughtful questions that help look at things from a different angle. The focus is on working together in a way that feels natural and helpful.
Humour is very welcome, when appropriate of course.

Rafter 46 comes from Shelley’s late father’s registered cattle brand, transferred to her before his passing. The brand represents the resilience, reliable support, and determination that shaped her path to helping others.
The rope-infinity reflects the lasting bonds people carry throughout life — with themselves, with others, and even with the animals and places that shape their experiences.
The phrase Bonds in Harmony reflects the intention behind Shelley’s practice. Bonds represent connection, while harmony represents balance and alignment. Together, they reflect her goal of helping people reconnect with themselves.
